Hands On!
Hands On! is a Beaux Arts community outreach program designed to introduce local children to the world of art.
Hands On! invites teachers and students, grade 1 through 5, from Title I elementary schools, to participate in an educational and fun museum experience at The Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami. This experience includes: free round trip bus transportation for up to 60 students (one bus per school), free museum admission, a docent-guided tour in three galleries of the museum, and participation in an art project.
The Hands On! program is a two-hour experience followed by lunch, which students should bring with them to the museum. Groups arrive at 9:45am and depart at 12:30pm. You must provide one chaperone for every 10 students (admitted free). Chaperones may have to pay to park their own vehicles (unless riding on the bus). Please have students wear nametags (first name only) in large letters.
Support for Hands On! was provided by a grant from the Coral Gables Community Foundation.
