The annual Beaux Arts Festival of Art takes place on the grounds of the Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida. Over 150,000 art patrons visit the Festival to view and purchase fine art and crafts from 300 juried exhibitors. $20,000 in cash awards will be presented, as well as a Patron's Purchase Program.
The Festival of Art is sponsored by Beaux Arts, a volunteer, support organization of the Lowe Art Museum. Beaux Arts is proud to host South Florida's oldest art festival and kick off the 2005 Art Festival Season.


FESTIVAL QUALITY

The Beaux Arts Festival of Art is proud to consistently appear on the Sunshine Artist and Larry Harris lists of the nation's best art shows. Exhibition at the Festival of Art is by invitation only, and is limited to artists whose work is of high quality. All work, whether one-of-a-kind pieces or hand-pulled limited editions, should be well conceived and expertly executed without technical faults. Work should be made by hand or with the use of necessary and appropriate tools, showing imagination and the mark of individuality.

Categories not accepted: dried flower arrangements, pressed flowers, poured molds, kitwork, manufactured or mass-produced items, including, but not limited to, painting, glass, woodwork, clothing, jewelry, quilts, post and note cards, T-shirts.

Ceramics, woodwork, and jewelry must be handmade and individually designed by the artist; multiples of the same general design must be signed. We do not accept objects which have been commercially made, then dyed, batiked, painted, or decorated. Beaux Arts reserves the right to remove unsuitable works at the time of the Festival. The booth rental fee will not be returned if this is deemed necessary.


APPLICATION & FEE INFORMATION

Each applicant must submit the following:

  1. A complete application form.
  2. Four slides and one 3" x 5" or 4" x 6" print photo for consideration by the jury; three of the slides and the print shall show the type of work to be sold at the Festival, one slide shall be of the display booth to be used at the Festival.
  3. A non-refundable jury fee of $30.
  4. A booth rental fee of $250 for a standard booth or $300 for a corner booth. (Note: Prices include 7% Florida Sales Tax.)
  5. A self-addressed and stamped legal-size envelope for jury notification and return of slides.

SLIDE & PRINT SUBMITTALS

4-Color Slides: Slide submittals shall be standard size, 2" x 2", including the cardboard or plastic mount. No glass or metal mounts will be accepted. Do not apply tape to slides. Place red dot to indicate the front and bottom left-hand corner of slide.

Color Photograph: Color print shall be 3" x 5" or 4" x 6", indicating work typical of the type to be exhibited.

Slides and Print shall be labeled with applicant's name. Slides must also have front and bottom left-hand corner indicated with a red dot. Techniques, materials and dimensions may be included if space permits. Only work of the quality and type illustrated in the slides and print may be exhibited in the Festival. Slides and Prints of artists who are not juried into the Festival will be returned with notification. Slides belonging to accepted artists will be held until the Festival for re-check purposes and returned before the close of the Festival.


PRINT POLICY

Beaux Arts Festival of Art will allow a limited quantity of offset prints & mechanical reproductions. All offset prints and mechanical reproductions:

Beaux Arts reserves the right to enforce these restrictions at the time of the Festival and will require removal of any prints in violation of the policy. The booth rental fee will not be returned if this is deemed necessary.


SPECIAL APPLICATIONS

Applicants wishing to apply in more than one media category must submit separate applications for each medium to be considered. If only one application is accepted, only work in the accepted medium may be exhibited. An applicant working with a variety of styles within one medium should submit slides reflecting these various styles. Applicants doing both one-of-a-kind and production work must show examples of each kind of work in the same ratio to be exhibited at the Festival. Beaux Arts reserves the right to enforce this ratio clause at the Festival. Applicants working together may apply as one if they collaborate on every piece. If accepted, they may exhibit only pieces which are a collaboration.


WAITING LIST

Checks for booth fees from artists who have been placed on the wait list will be held by Beaux Arts but not cashed. If an artist has cleared the wait list prior to January 1, 2005, the check for the booth fee will be cashed. After January 1st, wait listed artists will be asked to submit a certified check or money order for the booth fee. Artists who do not clear the wait list will be sent their booth fee check back in the mail.


EXHIBITION SPACES

Booth Space: 10' front x 12' side
Booth Fee: $250 - standard/$300 - corner booth
(Note: Prices include 7% FL Sales Tax)


APPLICATION DEADLINE/ARTIST NOTIFICATION

Application Postmark Deadline: Applications must be postmarked no later than September 25, 2004. Late applications shall be returned unopened. No registered or certified letters will be accepted.

Artist Notification: Notification letters will be mailed on or before Wednesday, November 10, 2004. The Lowe Art Museum will have a list of all accepted exhibitors after November 10th.

Artist Cancellation: Artists unable to attend should inform the festival in writing of their cancellation. The last date for cancellation with booth refund is November 1, 2004.


CONTRACT: A completed application is a commitment to exhibit at the Festival of Art. Absolutely no refunds will be made after November l to artists invited to exhibit but unable to attend. By submitting this application, artists indicate that they have read the application in its entirety, and agree to follow all instructions, rules and regulations set forth herein.
